“Shizuoka Sprint” – The Invitational Swimming Championship

The Shizuoka Prefectural Fuji Swimming Center located within Fuji City, is used as the venue for the annual “Shizuoka Sprint” Invitational Swimming Championship” held every October.

This competition is named after Ms Kyoko Iwasaki, who won the gold medal in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The 2024 edition will be held as a part of special event of 160th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relationship between Switzerland and Japan.

30 + Years’ History - World class swimmers join competition every year

The competition has been established for over 30 years.
It has invited top Japanese swimmers, including the Olympian, and around 900 local athletes from Shizuoka Prefecture also participate.

Window to the World for Local Young Swimmers - Opportunities compete with top swimmers

The goal of the competition is “to create world-class athletes from Shizuoka Prefecture.”
The top qualifiers in the preliminaries are given the opportunity to compete in the finals with the invited top swimmers.
